THANKS to all who attended the Redstone Room Concert last Monday night! We had a BLAST playing in a great venue for such a wonderful crowd. We will definitely do it again next year!

CONGRATULATIONS to Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 for their great performances at the SEIBA Jazz Festival on Saturday. The groups played really well, and featured a number of individual soloists who were recognized for their outstanding performances. They are (from Jazz 2): Amanda Amhof, Jerry Davison, Mike Haas, Andrew Klever, Sam Morrison, Sarah Riedel, Logan Schoonover, Jacob Sikorski, Darin Strazewski, and Katelyn Tharp; and (from Jazz 1): Ryan Brimeyer, Aaron Drenter, Cory Greenleaf, Kellen Moss, Nate Spainhower, Ryan VanDeCasteele, Aaron Viner, and Collin Wilson. Ryan Brimeyer was one of a couple considered for the Outstanding Soloist overall in Class 4a, which is way cool!

HS BAND CONCERT TONIGHT!!! The concert starts at 7:00 pm and will feature the Concert and Symphonic Bands. Students are to be here by 6:15. REMINDER: Don’t forget tux shirts, black dress shoes and black socks!!

LESSONS: THIS week is the final week of the quarter- all lessons computer assignments need to be completed by the end of the school day on Thursday (1:00 pm). We have filled in zeros for the remaining slots in the grade book, and will be replacing them with grades as your son/daughter completes them. Again, PLEASE check their grades on Powerschool regularly- if you see any zeros in any columns, this means they haven’t yet completed that particular lesson or computer assignment.

JAM SESSION: This Thursday at Mojo’s Cafe, Davenport. I received an email from their entertainment director yesterday, asking if we could have the jam session from 6-8:00 pm because there is apparently a concert upstairs starting at 7:30. SO--- to avoid sound-bleeding issues, we will be jamming from 6-8:00 pm, rather than 7-9:00 pm. Sorry about the late notice!

TRIP FUNDRAISING- Just a reminder to have your son/daughter register on QSP.com (follow the links from the band webpage) and take advantage of this opportunity to earn some money for their trip! It involves such a LITTLE amount of time, and can really earn them a lot of money!

If anyone is curious about their current band trip account, you can contact Mr. K and he will let you know what you have in there so far (not including any of the QSP sales yet- we have to wait until we get our list from them at the end of the month).

REQUEST: If your son/daughter is sick and unable to attend a band event (particularly an outside event where traveling is involved), PLEASE call US right away. If no communication is made, we worry that something has happened on the way to school and/or are forced to wait, thus holding up the buses and putting us behind schedule. There are many students involved in the program, so we humbly ask that all parents communicate with us any time a situation like that arises. (Mr. K: 285-3316 and Mr. McMann: 285-3317) Thanks!

SENIOR SALUTE PICTURES! We need pictures of band/choir seniors for our senior salute slide show! These can be pictures from early childhood through the present! The best way to get the pictures to me is on a CD or flash drive, but you could also email me (only 1 or 2 at a time please because the school server doesn’t like huge files coming in- in many cases, the pictures emailed to me have been reduced in size, which also does not work for the slide show because the resolution is not good enough) or get a photo to me so I can scan it. If you do the latter, please write your name on the back of each photo to ensure that it gets returned to you!

3RD QUARTER “CHEAT SHEETS” are posted on the “Communications” page of www.nsband.com. They explain all of the requirements for the 3rd Quarter, so please read through them!
