Marching Band - Program Description

All students enrolled in the Instrumental Music Program participate in this high-spirited ensemble, which performs at all home football games and the Homecoming parade. With heavy emphasis on music variety and exposure, the goal of this organization is to perform a different show at each home football game. The season concludes with the exciting SENIOR SHOW, which is chosen, written, and rehearsed by the senior class.

        Marching Band Parents' Survival Guide

Uniforms
The Music Boosters will issue uniforms during the week of August 26th. These will be checked out and back in at each performance. The students are expected to bring black socks and ALL black (no stripes, etc) shoes.

Materials
Students are expected to purchase and bring their own lyres for their music. These are available at all local music stores. Drumline members do not need to purchase lyres.

Instruments
Students playing school-owned instruments for marching band are advised to come to the school as soon as possible to check them out. All wind and percussion students using school instruments will be charged an annual fee of $40 for instrument maintenance.

Performances
All home football games and the homecoming parade are required performances. All unexcused absences will result in a grade reduction. For any exceptional reasons, the parents are expected to contact the directors at least 2 weeks before the performance.
**For the homecoming parade, only the varsity football players, varsity cheerleaders, and homecoming court are excused from marching.

Other helpful advice:
As they will be marching outside on a potentially wet and/or muddy field, students may wish to bring along a pair of "grubby" shoes.

Flip-flops are NOT allowed.
