Jazz Band - Program Description

The North Scott Jazz Department has a strong tradition of providing students with a rich, solid jazz foundation. Many jazz legends such as Louie Bellson, Randy Brecker, Jiggs Whigham, Bobby Shew, Harold Jones, James Moody, Slide Hampton, Frank Wess, Bob Mintzer, Stefon Harris, and Jim Pugh have graced the stage at North Scott High School. NSHS also continues to be a regular stop on the Northern Illinois University Jazz Ensemble's November tour.

The North Scott Jazz department consists of two jazz ensembles and various combos. Students are selected for these groups by audition. Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 both perform at numerous festivals and concerts throughout the year, as well as various venues throughout the Quad City Area.

OBJECTIVE
